G.M.A.S. Consultants are an asbestos consultancy based in the Greater Manchester area, who employ a fully qualified staff, with over twenty years experience in the asbestos industry. We offer a full range of services within the health and safety genre, with affiliations to specialist health and safety companies coupled with the internal expertise of our own staff.

Following extensive research and wide ranging consultation, new legislation has been brought into effect. “The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations” 2004 came into force on the 21st May 2004, with significant changes to regulation 4 and regulation 20, and contains specific duties for those people in charge of work premises (known as ‘Duty Holders’) to locate, assess and manage any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s).

The HSE describes a duty holder as ‘ Every person who has, by virtue of a contract or tenancy, an obligation of any extent in relation to the maintenance or repair of non-domestic premises or any means of access thereto or egress there from or In relation to any part of non-domestic premises where there is no such contract or tenancy, every person who has, to any extent, control of that part of those non-domestic premises or any means to access thereto or egress there from.’
